Sigrid Qian
B. China. Lives and works in Los Angeles, CA, USA.
Xiyuan Sigrid Qian is a Los Angeles–based painter whose work explores the shifting territory between memory, perception, and material presence. Working primarily with oil, soft pastels, and graphite, she builds surfaces through gradual accumulation, allowing relationships between density, movement, and opacity to emerge within the pictorial field. Her paintings occupy liminal spaces where figures, architectural traces, and fragments hover between formation and dissolution, sustaining a tension between stabilization and disruption.
